About Sava Vemić

Short Biography

After his studies at the University in Belgrade Sava Vemić spent 3 seasons in New York City at The Metropolitan Opera’s Lindemann Young Artist Program where he made his debut in Verdi’s “Nabucco” and the same period his performance of Count Rodolfo role in Bellini’s “La Sonnambula” in Juilliard School Theater was praised by New York Times. In New York started his international opera career that led him to Paris Opera, Carnegie Hall in New York, La Monnaie Opera in Brussels, Semperoper Dresden, Arena di Verona festival, Aix en Provence festival, Odeaon of Herodes Atticus Theater in Athens, New National Theater Tokyo, Canadian Opera Company, Hamburg Opera, Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz, Vlaandren Opera in Antwerpen, Hawaii Opera and Belgrade National Opera.

Awards

Mr. Vemić received several Prizes throughout his young career: First Prize at the Opera Index International Vocal Competition in New York in 2016, the First Prize at the Gerda Lissner International Vocal Competition in New York in 2014, Second Prize at the Zachary Competition in New York/Los Angeles 2017, Finalist award of the International Belvedere Competition in Moscow 2017, Danica Mastilović award for the best student of vocal department of Faculty of Music Arts in Belgrade among others.

Education

In 2004 Sava started studying voice and music at the Music School Mokranjac in Belgrade, Serbia. In 2011 he continued his studies at the Faculty of Music Arts, University of Arts in Belgrade and in the 4th year of his studies he went to New York City for the vocal competition that consequently led him to The Metropolitan Opera’s Young Artist Program where he spent 3 years. Pandemic of COVID-19 in 2020 gave him time to officially graduate from the Faculty of Music Arts in Belgrade at the University of Arts. Beside his musical education he is a holder of the Master Degree in Pharmacy at the University of Belgrade.
